👥 What Are Cashiers and Users
Cashiers and users control who can access your POS system and bakoffice system, and what they can do. Set them up for new employees to track activity and manage permissions.
The Difference
| Type | Used For | Access |
|---|---|---|
| Cashiers | Employees working at registers | Login to OSPoS4+ registers with number and password |
| Users | Employees using back-office | Login to Convenience with number and password |
💡 Tip: Most employees need both. Create them as a cashier first, then enable user access for back-office work.
Why Set Them Up
Cashiers and users give you:
- Security control - Limit what employees can access and change
- Activity tracking - See who performs error corrects, price overrides, and till functions
- Audit trail - Price changes in back-office log which user made the change and when
- Accountability - Track employee actions for training or dispute resolution
When cashiers and users are set up, the system logs:
- Error corrects at registers
- Price overrides during sales
- Markdown items scanned
- Refunds and voids
- No sales
- Price changes in item maintenance
- Stock adjustments and wastage entry
