[Promotions](https://help.futurenet.com.au/inventory?hsLang=en-au#promotions) 16 January 2026 # 📊 Setting Up Lead In and Out Promotions Lead in and out promotions help you take advantage of buy promotion pricing before and after a hosted sell promotion. When suppliers offer cheaper buy prices before a sale, you can pass savings to customers early. After the sale ends, you can clear remaining stock purchased at the promotional buy price. #### How Lead In/Out Promotions Work? **Lead in:** Run a promotion before the hosted sell promotion starts, using items purchased at the promotional buy price. **Lead out:** Run a promotion after the hosted sell promotion ends to clear remaining stock purchased at the promotional buy price. These promotions automatically generate when you process a host file, retaining a percentage of the upcoming or outgoing promotion price. **💡 Tip:** Lead in/out promotions only appear once rules are configured and you've processed a host file containing relevant promotions. --- ### Configuring Lead In/Out Promotions #### Accessing Store Settings 1. Navigate to the **Setup** tab in Convenience 2. Select **Stores** 3. Select **InStore Leadins** from the left-hand menu 2. Click **Departments** 3. Select the department you want to configure 4. Click **Add Rule** ![Lead-Ins2](https://help.futurenet.com.au/hs-fs/hubfs/KB%20Media/Lead-Ins2.gif?width=670&height=487&name=Lead-Ins2.gif) **ℹ️ Note:** Each department must be configured separately, giving you control over which items are included in lead in/out promotions. #### Configuring Rule Options When you add a rule, configure these options: | Option | Description | | --- | --- | | **Lead In Days** | Days before the promotion starts | | **Lead Out Days** | Days after the promotion ends | | **% deal to retain** | Percentage of promotion price to use for lead in/out | | **Min weeks on buy promo** | Minimum buy promo duration needed to trigger lead in/out | | **New Description** | Custom description for generated lead in/out promotion | ##### **Example configuration** **Lead In Days:** 7 (starts 7 days before the hosted promotion) **Lead Out Days:** 7 (runs for 7 days after the hosted promotion ends) **Lead In %:** 50 (item sold at 50% of the promotional discount) **Lead Out %:** 50 (item sold at 50% of the promotional discount) **ℹ️ Note:** Lead out promos are optional. Leave this at 0 to only generate lead in promos. #### Applying Rules to Multiple Departments Repeat the process for each department where you want lead in/out promotions: 1. Click **Departments** 2. Select the next department 3. Click **Add Rule** 4. Configure the options 5. Click **OK** #### Removing Rules To remove a lead in/out rule from a department: 1. Select the department 2. Select the rule 3.
